Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center
Located in the heart of the Central District, Carolyn Downs is the only one of 13 original Black Panther-founded health care clinics still operating today. The clinic is named after fallen Black Panther comrade Carolyn Downs – a young activist and mother who cared tirelessly for her community. We aim to honor her legacy by treating every patient equally, regardless of ability to pay.
At both Country Doctor and Carolyn Downs, we care for patients with compassion and understanding. You will have a family physician or family nurse practitioner in charge of your healthcare as part our patient-centered medical home. In addition, our staff will help you navigate your way through any tests, prescriptions, specialist referrals, behavioral health appointments, wellness or lifestyle suggestions, or anything else you might need to take charge of your health.
We also partner with Swedish Cherry Hill Family Medicine Residency to train family physicians, who are at the forefront of advances in primary care and community health.
Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
